Tips for Physical care for a Runner

Now that you have started taking up Running regularly as an exercise, it is always important that you secure your physical structure properly to avoid injuries. 

Following are some tips which can be useful for you to keep your Physique quiet comfortable while Running:

  1. Caring Hands & Shoulders: When you are doing LSD run, your fists tend to get clenched with your hands. Ensure to take some time in freeing your arms and fists and you can even relax your shoulders down so that your upper body doesn’t become rigid.
  2. Cadence: There are runners who tend to strain themselves from running quite faster than their capacity to cover the distance in a shorter time. This is not necessary at all. Try to cadence while running rather striding your legs to cover the distance. Cadence is the number of time your foot strikes the ground while running. While running LSD, check on your legs so that it doesn’t stride too far from your hips. Even a shorter steps can get you the necessary speed and allows you to complete the distance at your own targeted time. This is very important to note while running LSD.
  3. Take long rest when injured: Always ensure to take a long rest when you get injured while running. Coming back to action in quick time will never help you to get back to your regular timing. Sometimes you may even happen to get injured again and aggravate your physique. So consult a physician and give your body complete rest till it gets rejuvenated.
  4. Hydration: Hydrating sufficiently while Running is an important factor to protect your physique. Your body relieves lot of Glucose while running and dehyrates your body. Hence it is very much necessary to drink water or Electrolytes at regular intervals during LSD running. But at the same time you should not be drinking too much of water and drain the all the essential electrolytes in your body. Give your body a balanced Hydration and protect it from any disaster.
  5. Sufficient Sleep: The night before the day of your LSD run, ensure to get sufficient sleep. Sleepless nights will not allow your body and mind to focus on running and there is a possibility of serious injuries when you to attempt to do so. Sleep well to enjoy your Run.
  6. Body strengthening: Just running will not help you to achieve your goal. Strengthening your Upper body, Core and Legs is very much essential to facilitate your Running. Ensure to get a proper and structured training for Strengthening and make your physique more comfortable for Running.

Mental Tips for Runners

As a person who have just began running regularly, there is a lot to get prepared mentally to keep your Run more comfortable.

There are few Mental Tips which  one can follow while Running:

  1. Set an Objective: Whatever we do in life has to have a motive. Running is not an exception either. When you start the habit of Running set yourself a goal on what you want to acquire by running regularly. There can be lot of goals like becoming a pacer, bringing down the weight, shaping up your body structure, restrict yourself from becoming a Diabetic and so on. So set an Objective and your Running will have some meaning and excites you to pursue.
  2. Running on a treadmill: Always note that running on a treadmill always differs from Running on a Terrain. Treadmill is always smooth and you tend to run at a regular pace; infact you tend to run faster on a treadmill. Whereas on a terrain you may find irregular path, tougher sometimes and so the pace at which you run on a normal terrain is different from running on a treadmill. Never compare your Run on treadmill to your run on a terrain.
  3. Pacing up your Run: Many people think themselves as a “Slow Runner” or “Fast Runner”. There is nothing to put yourself in any of that category unless your objective is to practice and participate in Olympics. Always ensure that your run gives you pleasure without any injuries. That symbolises your victory in Running. When you run just relax at your own pace and never try anything that is beyond your capacity. It might do harm to you.
  4. PB is just a number: “PB” also called “Personal Best” is just a number. When you begin running you always find that you better your running in terms of speed, distance and timing every time. But this will almost become static gradually and you will find yourself completing any distance at the same pace which will not allow you to meet your PB. Always prepare your mind that your PB gets saturated at one point.
  5. Try various options in Running: When you run always try all the options that you find interesting. This could be Running with your best friend, Running with music on your ears, Running on a beach side, Running with a group of people etc., Try all the options every time and you will never dislike Running. Also dream yourself as one of the best runner of this era. This will give you a motivation to pursue Running and energize to meet your objective.

Tips for Beginners in Running

As a beginner in Running, Please follow the tips given below for a comfort run:

1) Start Walking:

When you decide to start your running, research says that only 5% of the people will continue to run after first two days. Rest of the people will drop the idea of Running succumbing to the difficulty involved in it. Hence when you decide to run, walk for few kilometers everday initially. The walk has to be quick and brisk. Then the tempo of walk can be increased everyday and end up in gradual run. This will definitely gets you into the Motivational Zone to Run everyday.

2) Run for less distance:

Always practice running for less distance initially instead of running for miles. The distance may be increased gradually after you set up your mind not to miss the Run everyday.

3) Warm up session:

Always warm up before starting your run. This will give some flexibility to your legs and body facilitating easy run. Warm up includes, butt kicks, High knees, Alternate toe touch, Lunges etc.,.

4) Record the Run timing:

After few runs initially, start recording the timing of your run everyday. This will excite you and encourage you to continue running. Keep up your own pace and don’t compare the timing with others and stretch yourself. This might lead to injuries. You may use apps like Runkeeper, Sportstracker etc for recording the run timing.

5) Pacing up the timing of your run:

After practicing running for few days, it is mandatory that you increase the pace of your run. Let the increasing timing be a gradual effort and not an abrupt pacing. It might end up injuring yourself. Always keep in mind that running injury-free is a priority than the timing. Once you practice running consciously not to get injured, the pace of the run gets developed naturally.
